Vietnam Shipping Times
Port Group 5, or PG5, in the key economic triangle of the Ho Chi Minh City-Dong Nai-Vung Tau area, plays an important part in the economy of the zone as it is located near international shipping routes, forming a convenient link between major areas in the region and the world.
Statistics for the past three years show that shipping activities have been ever brisker in the region.
In 1999, the total number of ships passing through the Ho Chi Minh City-Dong Nai-Vung Tau PG5 was 10,329 with a total volume of 44,615,284 tonnes of goods and 733,236 TEUs. In 2000, the respective figures were 13,083 ships and 50,443,311 tonnes of goods and 859,138 TEUs. In 2001, the respective figures were 14,384 ships and 59,086,145 tonnes of goods (including wet goods exported from Vung Tau) and 1,023,592 TEUs.
