Cape Town - The National Ports Authority would be corporatised but remain in the Transnet stable, reversing a previous decision to take it out of the transport parastatal, Maria Ramos, chief executive of Transnet, said in parliament yesterday.
She told the parliamentary transport portfolio committee that Alec Erwin, the minister of public enterprises, and Jeff Radebe, the minister of transport, had agreed that all three of Transnet's core businesses - the National Ports Authority, Spoornet and the SA Port Operations - would remain in Transnet and adopt co-ordinated investment programmes to improve efficiency and cut freight costs
