Twelve shipping lines using the Mombasa port have threatened to introduce a delay surcharge if the situation does not improve.
Kenya Ports Authority technical services manager Joseph Atonga said the companies are members of the East African Conference Lines (EACL). They include Compagnie Generale Maritime, Consortium Hispania Lines, Cunard Ellerman Lines, Deutsche Seereederei Rostock and Rostock Harrison Line.
Others are Ignazio Messina & C., Jadranska Slobodna Plovidba, Kenya National Shipping Line, Lloyd Triestino, Mediterranean Shipping Company, P&O Containers and Wec Line
