PORTS in China are expected to handle 15 percent more cargo this year from 2004, reaching 4.8 billion tons, according to estimates by the Ministry of Communications.
The number of 20-foot standard containers handled is likely to reach 74 million, 20 percent more than last year, the ministry said on its Website.
In the first nine months this year, the major ports, including Shanghai and Shenzhen, moved 54 million containers, up 24 percent from the same period last year
