Durban - SA Port Operations (Sapo) has spent R1 billion on new equipment, primarily for the Durban container terminal, to cater for the forecast 3.1 million containers the terminal is expected to be handling by next year.
The equipment includes the acquisition of 14 super post-Panamax Liebherr cranes. Eight of these cranes will be used in Durban, including at the new container terminal Pier One, and six in Cape Town
