Red flags fly at Tema Port ... 3,000 workers set to lose jobs

Red flags are flying inside Tema Port following a decision by management of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to allocate over 50 percent of container shore handling operations at the Tema Port to the Meridian Port Services (MPS).
Management of all the seven privately owned stevedoring companies inside the port, which form the Association of Stevedoring Companies (GASCO) have therefore appealed to government to intervene as a matter of urgency to reverse the decision, as it has the tendency to worsen the unemployment situation in the country ......
