Schwarzenegger, Lingle join to oppose cruise ship port-call rules

The governors of Hawaii and California on Friday urged the federal government to reject new rules for cruise ship port calls that they said will hurt their states' economies.
Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, both Republicans, sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff arguing that a proposed rule change intended to protect U.S.-flagged ships from foreign competitora could have “unintended, disastrous consequences and cause wide-ranging economic damage.” ......
