RP calls for int'l concerted effort vs sea piracy

The Philippines has called on its neighbors in South East Asia and the United States, Japan, Korea, China and the European Union to launch a concerted effort to address the piracy off Somali waters, which threatens global maritime security and endangers the lives of thousands of seafarers, a majority of whom are Filipinos.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Enrique Manalo made the call during the 15th Association of South East Asian Nations Regional Forum (ARF) senior officials' meeting on non-traditional security threats in Phuket, Thailand last week, where he pushed for the development of a global plan to address the piracy menace in the horn of Africa ......
