Indian Ports association signs wage accord

Panaji, Jan 19: The Indian Ports Association (IPA), representing 12 major port trusts in the country, today signed a 5-year bipartite wage accord with the employees federation, entailing Rs 450 crore additional burden on the ports per annum with retrospective effect from January 1, 2007.
“We are able to absorb the burden and envisage rise in productivity, discipline, minimisation of wastage and saving in manpower and time following the agreement benefitting 70,000 port employees and dock workers.
