LLOYD' REGISTER FOBAS EXTENDS LABORATORY NETWORK
March 6, 1997
Following continued growth and expansion of its analysis and advisory services, and to meet increased demand from clients, Lloyd's Register Fuel Oil Bunker Analysis and Advisory Service (LR FOBAS) has opened a fifth laboratory at Caleb Brett, in Rotterdam.
The facility became operational on 1 January 1997, and is to be officially opened on 12 March 1997. It complements the four existing FOBAS laboratories, at West Thurrock, UK; Houston, USA; Singapore; and Fujairah, UAE. All five laboratories undertake full analysis on all grades of fuel oil under the FOBAS programme.
"It makes good sense to have a laboratory in one of the busiest bunker ports in the world", says Trevor Jackson, manager of FOBAS. "In view of the growth in the fuel oil sample volume in the Rotterdam catchment area, the use of a local laboratory is warranted, and is in line with our policy of expanding our laboratory network to provide superior benefits to our clients".
The Rotterdam laboratory is accredited to both ISO 9002 and the STERLAB quality systems. FOBAS has worked closely with Caleb Brett, a division of ITS, the world's largest indipendent industrial testing company, for ever 16 years. Together, FOBAS and Caleb Brett provide a unique fuel evaluation service, combining the analytical expertise of Caleb Brett with LR's broad engineering and advisory experience.
