In the first quarter of this year the growth in turnover of Swiss logistics group Panalpina has slowed down. Net revenue is in fact amounted to a total of 1.6519 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 4.0% compared to 1.5878 billion Swiss francs in the first three months of 2010. The first quarter of 2011 was still closed, with results far superior to those of the corresponding period last year. The Swiss group has recorded an EBITDA of 55.6 million Swiss francs (+451.9%), the operating result (EBIT) was positive for 46.4 million Swiss francs compared to a loss 556mila Swiss francs in first quarter of 2010. Panalpina has closed the first three months of 2011 with a net profit of 34.9 million Swiss francs compared to net income of 37 thousand Swiss francs in the first three months of last year.
The Logistics Group pointed out that the results of the first quarter of this year weights to strengthen the Swiss franc - Panalpina said - had an impact of almost 8% gross profit amounted to 373.4 million by Swiss francs, an increase of 14.1% (+21.7% at constant exchange rates).
In the first three months of 2011 gross profit generated by the activities of air shipment made by the group amounted to 170 million Swiss francs, an increase of 24% (+32% at constant exchange rates), while that accounted for by shipping activities was 113 million Swiss francs, an increase of 12% over first quarter 2010 (+20% at constant exchange rates). In the logistics segment gross profit amounted to 90 million Swiss francs, an increase of 1% (+8% at constant exchange rates).
