The Grimaldi Group Naples owner opens its regular service for passengers connecting the port of Civitavecchia to Catania and Malta has in the past and dedicated to the only traffic of goods by rail vehicles. The initiative comes under a new agreement of cooperation between the Group of Naples and the Port Authority of Civitavecchia: The company owner said it had successfully caught the invitation of the newly elected president of the Port Authority and the Ports of Rome Lazio, Pasqualino Monti, and in the coming days will sign a memorandum of understanding with the agency by committing to the launch of new lines as part of its policy of strengthening the role of Civitavecchia ferry connections to the network for freight and passengers in the Mediterranean.
The new line Civitavecchia - Catania - Malta is made by modern ro-pax Catania with 92 cabins and 62 seats, which is capable of traveling at a speed of 22.5 knots.The port of Civitavecchia is connected to the port of Catania thrice-weekly, with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 22:30 and arrives at 17:00 the next day. Links to Valletta, however, have weekly flights on Saturdays at 22:30 and arriving at 7:00 am on Monday.
With its network of motorways of the sea, the group also runs regularly Grimaldi the port of Civitavecchia to Barcelona, Porto Torres, Tunis and Trapani. For the Euro-Aegean service company dedicated to the transport of new cars and freight rolling stock, Civitavecchia is also a major hub between the ports of Hamburg, Antwerp, Portbury, Setubal, Valencia, Livorno and the port of Salerno, Palermo, Piraeus, Alexandria, Beirut, Tripoli, Tartous, Lattakia, Mersin, Gemlik, Yenikoy, Southampton and Flushing.
