During the hundredth annual convention of the American Association of Port Authorities (Aapa), held last week in Seattle, was made official the appointment of the Executive Director of the Virginia Port Authority, Jerry Bridges, as the new chairman for the biennium of 2011-12 'Association, which represents more than 160 public and private ports in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America and the members of which also more than 335 private companies with interests in ports associated as partners or supporters.
Jerry Bridges, who had been appointed to lead the AAP Board of the association met last March, he was appointed by September 15. Bridges was previously executive director of the Port of Oakland and has held positions in companies operating Marine Terminals Corporation, Sea Land Services and Roadway Express.
