Thanks to an alliance between the group Fremura of Livorno, general agent for Italy of the shipping company Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), the International Shipping and Freight Agency Ltd. (Transagent), agent of SCI for Slovenia, and The Venetian Sermar Line shipping company kicks off the first line of containers from the ports of northern Adriatic ports of India via Port Said West.
This is a trade agreement that links the operating and the Upper Adriatic with the Indian subcontinent with a weekly fast and dedicated. The agreement involves the combined use of weekly service offered by Sermar Line from North Adriatic ports of Venice, Ravenna, Koper and Port Said West, connecting I-MED operated by state company whose rotation SCI-scale Indian ports Columbus, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mundra, Salalah, Port Said, Istanbul, Barcelona, Genoa, La, La Spezia, Port Said, Salalah, Colombo.
The transit time came, in exports, about 21-23 days to 13 days for India and Oman, India imports about 16-18 days and 14 days from Oman. Sermar Line has already announced that in the short insert a second ship to enable it to double its container handling.
Meanwhile, with the aim to develop links with the Indian market, the ports of North Adriatic Ports Associations (NAPA), an association formed by the ports of Koper, Ravenna, Rijeka, Trieste and Venice, on November 3rd in Chennai to participate in the second edition of '"India Port Expansion and Capacity Upgrading Summit" to present the potential and the Adriatic port development projects and further increase the capacity of intermediary business with India.
