In the first Hapag-Lloyd trimester it is incurred in a net loss of 132,4 million euros



In the first trimester of this year the shipowning company German Hapag-Lloyd has emphasized the liabilities recording a net loss of 132,4 million euros respect to a net loss of 22,1 million euros in the first three months of 2011. The revenues are increased of 8.0% attesting itself to 1.601, 5 million euros regarding 1.482, 1 million euros in the first trimester of 2011. Operating result, EBITDA and EBIT have been negatives respective for 98,7 million, 21,2 million and 103,0 million euros regarding positive results for 2,6 million, 84,6 million and 12,3 million euros in the first three months last year.

Hapag-Lloyd has emphasized that in the first trimester of this year the cost of the bunker is gone back remarkablly attesting itself to a medium value of 667 dollars to the ton, with an increment of 31% on the same period of 2011. Altogether the voice of the expenses generated from the activity of transport of the company shows a value of 1.495 million euros regarding 1.264 million euros in the first three months last year. The German company has remembered that at the end last January it has decided to put into effect a determined increase of the installments of hire with effect from on 1° March to the aim compensating the increase of the expenditures of energy and that successively ulterior increases of the hires with effect in April, May and june are announced. The future rises of the hires - it has specified Hapag-Lloyd - will beginning from have effect on the revenues according to trimester and they are not sufficient in order to totally counterbalance ulterior the current expenses generated from the increase of the cost of the bunker and from the other correlated transport costs to the energy.

In the first three months of the 2012 fleet of portacontainer of the company container has transported cargo volumes 1.323.000 pairs to teu, with a progression of 10.5% regarding 1.197.000 teu in the first trimester last year. Such volumes turn out left again so for market segment: Atlantic 295,000 teu (+8.1%), Latin America 288,000 teu (+8.7%), Far East 281,000 teu (+8.1%), Pacific 303,000 teu (+13.9%) and Oceania 156,000 teu (+16.4%). The medium hire for container teu of the first three months of 2012 has been pairs to 1.484 dollars (- 5.1%), with the following division for market: Atlantic 1,751 dollars (- 0.3%), Latin America 1,337 dollars (- 3.3%), Far East 1,186 dollars (- 21.5%), Pacific 1,753 dollars (- 2.7%) and Oceania 1,259 dollars (- 5.8%).

The share compages of Hapag-Lloyd are constituted by the group TUI that stops a participation of 38.4% and from the Albert Ballin consortium with 61.6%, than in its turn are participated by Kühne Maritime (24.6%), HGV Hamburger Gesellschaft für Vermögens- und Beteiligungsmanagement (23.6%), IDUNA Vereinigte Lebensversicherung aG für Handwerk, Handel und Gewerbe (5.5%), HSH Nordbank (3.2%), HanseMerkur (1.5%) and from a group of investor guided from M.M.Warburg & CO Gruppe (3.2%).
