Ban of contest for the promoted naval technological innovation from Fincantieri and Università of Genoa



The navalmeccanico group Italian Fincantieri with the School Polytechnic of the University of Genoa has promoted "Innovation Challenge", a ban of contest finalized to the selection of projects in within of naval technological innovation destined to industrialization. The initiative, than is set in the picture of the prestigious one and consolidated collaboration between the company and the genoese University, it will be financed by Fincantieri with a total investment that will be able to arrive until 500 thousand euros.

The cooperation will be focused to value and to develop the best coming ideas from the university in order translate them in innovations of producing on the issues more critics for the competitiveness, which the reduction of the cost and the weight of producing, the perceived quality, the increase of energy efficiency and the massimizzazione of the payload, that is with of the activities that guarantee an economic return to the societies owners of a shipping company.

The first phase of the ban beginning from previews a call for ideas between the five departments of the School polytechnic of Genoa the areas indicated from Fincantieri. Therefore six proposals will be characterized that will come deepen in the three next months with a bottom of 15 thousand euros each. The two projects considered more interesting under the profile of the innovation will be supported and financed until 200 thousand euros everyone and will be lead until the phase of industrialization.

Fincantieri will have the task to estimate ideas and projects and to guarantee the financing of the ban, while the controlled Cetena (Center for the studies of search of naval technique), besides to collaborate to the appraisal, will be premail to the coordination of the activities and the industrial garrison in phase of industrialization. The grill of used appraisal will prefer the scientific and technological quality, (solidity and quality of the objectives, effectiveness of the methodology) and the results (impact on Fincantieri system, applicabilità to the produced one). The School Polytechnic of Genoa will act as basin of the ideas and will be involved through its departments in the realization of the selected projects.

"Innovation Challenge" is set in the picture of a series of initiatives promoted from Fincantieri in the field of the Innovation Open, a model of collaboration between enterprises and structures of search that has asserted during the last few years above all in the fields more high rate than innovation, as INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY and Biotech, and in the advance countries from the technological point of view.
