The shipowning group Messina has taken in delivery Jolly Cobalto



In the fleet of the shipowning society Italian Ignazio Messina & C. have entered Jolly Cobalto, the greatest ship ro-ro portacontainer of the world that, as the binoculars Jolly Titanio already taken in delivery last November, is constructed by Offshore Korean yard STX and Shipbuilding di Jinhae.

Jolly Cobalto has taken to the sea today with Europe destination transporting a first cargo of rotabili. He is attended in the port of Genoa for the half of March and immediately will be inserted in managed the regular services of line from the genoese shipowning group, from the ports of the Mediterranean to those of the Red Sea and the Middle East.

The Messina company has emphasized that, with almost exclusively Italian crew (18 members on 21) and registered in the Naval district of Genoa, Jolly Cobalto "covers a particular meaning: on one side confirmation strong vitality, also in a period of crisis as that current one, the Italian fleet. From the other it supplies a confidence sign on the abilities to the Country: Italian flag and Italian crew rise for us to symbols of a Italy that must return to believe in itself same".

Jolly Cobalto, with the binoculars Jolly Titanio, Jolly Vanadio and Jolly Palladio, last the two anchor under construction near the same Korean yard, constitutes the second ulterior series of four ro-ro portacontainer that the Messina group has commissioned to Offshore STX and Shipbuilding and that will be completed within the first semester of the year. The phase one of the plan for the development and the modernization of the property fleet had been concluded at the beginning of 2013 with the commissioning of Jolly Quarzo, last of the four ships always clappers Italian flag that were constructed by the Korean yard Daewoo together with the binoculars Jolly Diamante, Jolly Perla and Jolly Cristallo.

Long 240 meters and wide 37,50, the new ships develop a speed to the advanced design load to 21,5 knots and have an ability to 3.900 teu, 6,350 linear meters of rotabile cargo. The units have of great operating flexibility, in particular of the maximum draught of 11,50 meters with a capacity of 45.000 tons. Moreover they are supplies of a cargo ramp with a capacity of 350 tons planned in order to allow the transport of exceptional cargos and system material until seven meters of height lowerdeck.
