This afternoon near the Old Fortress of Livorno the president of the Authority of Harbour System of the Tyrrhenian Sea Northern, Stefano Corsini, to the presence of the minister of Infrastructures and the Transports, Paola De Micheli, has illustrated the content of a project that comprises the works of protection of the new harbour mouth of the port of Livorno (mouth North), the new harbour basin of the Europe Dock with the relative channel of access and the connected activities of dredging to their functionality.
Work for 260 million euros is previewed. More in detail, the realization of a new pier of sopraflutto (Dam North), the reconfiguration and the extension of the dam of the Marzocco is previewed (Dam South) and the realization of the new dam of the Meloria, with demolition of that old one. The participations of dredging are finalized to the imbasamento of the new works, to the deepening to -17 meters of the backdrops of the access channel and to the realization of the basins and the internal docks (dock of the new terminal container to -16 meters, watery mirror of the Santo Stefano basin and next backdrops to -13 meters).
The dredged material, whereby did not turn out usable for the rimodellamento of the beach submergeeed along the pisano shoreline, will be managed inside a new bathtub overwhelmed of adapted ability, localized in the new harbour basin of the Dock Europe and conterminata, on the side sea, from the terminal feature of the Dam North and, on the internal side, from banks in reef. This bathtub will represent the base for the realization of the large squares of a new terminal dedicated to the Freeways of the Sea, whose realization is previewed in the second phase of the Europe Platform. Besides the placed areas of overwhelmed to the root of the Dam North, a second bathtub of control between the new Dam is previewed also South and the Dam of the Marzocco.
The Europe Dock will be equipped of a basin of evolution with useful diameter of 600 meters and depth to -16 meters. As expected from the Portuale Town development plan, also the next backdrop the dock of the future container terminal will be dredged to -16 meters, but it is previewed that the work is planned in way such to allow escavo until quota -20 the meters.
Thanks to the realization of the works in project the naval traffics of the port could be subdivided for merceologica type between the new mouth to north and that to south, contributing to improve the conditions of safety of navigation and the job.
All the previewed works will be subjected to Appraisal of Environmental impact, in the within of whose iter great attention will be dedicated to the conservation of the sedimentary balance of the pisano shoreline.

Already inserted in the national programming of field and important addressee regional and state financings, the Europe Dock is not only a strategic asset for the Tuscany coast but it represents the future of the city and the territory, with fallen back positive also from an occupational point of view: the objective is that to succeed in to employ one hundred people to the day for about two years and means".
