
Last year the port of Barcelona handled 67.83
million tons of goods, with an increase of +8.7% on the
2023 driven by +12.4% growth in containerized traffic
which amounted to 37.68 million tonnes, volume
built with a container handling of 3.89 million
TEUs (+18.5%), of which 1.74 million TEUs in transit (+31.8%) and
2.15 million TEUs in import-export (+9.5%). On the rise are

(+3.8%) and liquid bulk with 13.69 million tons
(+6.3%), of which 9.38 million tonnes of hydrocarbons (0%) and
4.31 million tons of other liquid cargoes (+23.4%).
Dry bulk cargo was stable with 4.80 million tons (+0.1%).
In the new car traffic sector, new cars were handled
682 thousand vehicles (-13.7%).
Passenger traffic was unchanged in 2024
in the ferry segment with 1.74 million people transited
(+0.2%), while it grew by +2.4% in the
cruises that totaled 3.66 million passengers (+2.4%).
In the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, the Catalan port of call
handled a total of 15.99 million tons of goods,
with an increase of +1.2% over the October-December period of the year
previous. In the various goods sector, the following have been handled:
8.67 million tons of containerized goods (+0.5%) with a
handling of containers equal to 915 thousand TEUs (+9.7%), including
364 thousand in transit (+4.8%) and 551 thousand in import-export (+13.3%), and
2.79 million tons of other miscellaneous goods (+6.6%). Bulk
solid markets, with 1.37 million tonnes, recorded a
growth of +19.1%, while liquid bulk cargo, with 3.16 million
tons, fell by -7.2%. New car traffic
was 173 thousand units (-13.3%).
In the last quarter of last year, passengers in the
ferries were 255 thousand (-4.3%) and those of cruises 823 thousand
(-8,2%).
