
Thanks to the increase of +15.3% recorded in the second half of the year
of the year compared to the same period in 2023 which has more
which offset the -6.4% drop in freight traffic
in the first six months of 2024, the port of Venice
closed the whole of 2024 with a growth of +3.6% in volumes of
loads handled amounted to 24.1 million tons
compared to 23.3 million tonnes in the previous year. In 2024
the goods at the landing alone amounted to 19.5 million
tons (+4.8%) and those on board at 4.6 million tons
(-1,2%).
Last year, the total traffic of general goods was
remained stable with a decrease of -5.0% in goods
containerized vehicles dropped to 4.8 million tons, with a
container handling of 478,837 TEUs (-2.5%), and
increases of +3.0% and +6.1% respectively in rolling stock and
of other miscellaneous goods rose to 2.3 million and 2.5 million
Tons. Liquid bulk cargo totaled over 7.1 million
of tonnes (+7.1%), of which 5.7 million tonnes of products
refined oil (+10.7%), 1.1 million tonnes of
chemicals (-4.6%) and 325 thousand tons of other cargoes
(-7,2%). Dry bulk cargo also grew with almost 7.3 million
of tonnes (+5.8%), of which 2.0 million tonnes of products
metallurgical (-$7.7), 1.9 million tons of minerals
(+28.0%), 1.6 million tonnes of feed, fodder and seeds
oily (+37.2%), 634 thousand tons of coal (-43.1%), 482 thousand tons
tons of cereals (+0.7%), 177 thousand tons of products
chemical (+41.3%) and 425 thousand tons of other dry bulk
(+42,4%).
Last year in the passenger sector, cruise passengers were
548 thousand (+7.8%), of which 487 thousand at disembarkation/embarkation (+8.9%) and
61 thousand in transit (-0.3%), while ferry passengers are
62 thousand states (-31.4%).
In the second half of 2024 alone, the growth of +15.3% in the
traffic of goods over the same period of the previous year, with
a total of 12.4 million tons handled, was
generated by significant increases in liquid bulk volumes and
solid water assets rose to 3.8 million tonnes (+12.5%) and
more than 3.9 million tons (+37.7%). More
the increase in miscellaneous goods was limited, amounting to 4.7 million
of tonnes (+3.6%), of which 2.4 million tonnes of cargo
containerized (-0.6%), 1.1 million tons of ro-ro cargo
(+0.5%) and 1.2 million tons of other miscellaneous goods (+17.1%).
In the whole of 2024, the port of Chioggia handled 813 thousand
tons of goods (+8.8%).
