
The Practical Handbook of Maritime Traffic drawn up
by the Association of Genoese Shipping Agents
Fifty years in conjunction with the eightieth anniversary celebrated this year
by Assagenti herself. The publication, which has become the
reference text not only for the category of agents and
maritime brokers but also for the entire cluster of the sea and
ports, since 1975 has allowed the training of the students of the
Assagenti as well as university students and
professionals of all kinds.
The new edition also required an amalgamation of the texts and
points of view of people and experts, even if not directly
involved in the operations of the category. The contents
of the latest version of the Manual, which were illustrated in Genoa
by the president of the Genoese agents, Gianluca Croce, in the presence of
the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, and
of the president of Federagenti, Paolo Pessina, were in fact
curated by a large panel of authors, many had already
contributed to the edition of 12 years ago, to which new
Names: A group of high-level experts, each dealing with
their themes with their individual peculiarities and specializations.
The book, coordinated by Gian Enzo Duci, with the collaboration of
of Assagenti's secretariat, in particular Iolanda Garzia and
Sergio Tripodi, is divided into thirteen chapters with a first part
dedicated to the habitat in which maritime traffic develops:
the sea, the ports and the geography of the market, what moves by sea.
The ship is the protagonist of the second part, with the
chapter on the administrative and economic regime of the ship, and
the one on the technical and inspection regime. The central chapter deals with
the issues of the individual professions related to the world of
shipping: the maritime company and the shipmanager, the agent
the shipper, the freight forwarder and the shipping broker. Contracts
maritime issues are the subject of in-depth analysis in the third part together
to the insurance part and to the P&I Clubs.
