Construction work has begun in the port of Gioia Tauro of the "Casa del Portuale", a building in which the Essential services for prevention activities hosted health and work in the Calabrian port and which will involve An investment of five million euros. The building will have a size of 2,690 square meters and will be arranged on two floors, with two changing rooms dedicated to workers on the ground floor of the Medcenter Container Terminal, a changing room dedicated to workers of the Port System Authority of the Tyrrhenian Seas Southern and Ionian and the spaces of the infirmary; on the first floor there are three changing rooms are planned, two dedicated to MCT and one to the port authority. The new building, which will be located in the area in concession to the MCT terminal hitherto occupied by the entrance gate to the terminal, will also house some rooms for infirmary use with Dedicated entrance outside the in/out turnstiles.

Meanwhile, the Port Authority has announced that in the first three months of this year the port of Gioia Tauro has handled a traffic of containers equal to 1,085,542 TEUs, with an increase of +15.5% compared to the same period in 2024.
