This morning the Italian Academy of the Merchant Navy, the most Italy's largest ITS foundation dedicated to mobility has inaugurated the new headquarters in Palazzo Tabarca, in the heart of the ancient port of Genoa, which is the result of a institutional path shared between the Accademia Foundation Italian Merchant Navy and local and national buildings. The building, on four floors for about 4,800 meters paintings, is part of a larger project of redevelopment as part of the National Recovery Plan and Resilience with over €18.5 million in funding intended for the recovery of the entire complex Tabarca-Metelino. To these are added about 10 million euros allocated by the PNRR specifically for updating and development of advanced laboratories that can be used by the entire community of national maritime cluster, for public investment which, together with the funds allocated for the new courses, around 40 million euros.

The structure, which will become the public center of most advanced maritime simulation in the Mediterranean, is divided into four floors of Palazzo Tabarca and will soon be able to host the current 1,050 students of the Academy in a single location. The building also offers 14 new apartments for 64 students. The new headquarters can boast a technological system Ultra-modern and resilient for advanced vocational education in the sustainable mobility sector consisting of 18 different simulation platforms (largely integrated with each other and/or with real on-board systems such as ECDIS supplied by CAIM or loading programs developed by NAPA) and two applied sciences and technologies related to decarbonisation and equipped with systems for the study of pneumatics, hydraulics and of mechatronics (FESTO and SIEMENS systems). The from the world of freight transport to ships to from port cranes to plants and units offshore training, so as to be able to promote comprehensive training and ready for the challenges of the near future for all sectors of the logistics, transport and port area.

Today's inauguration was attended, among others, by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, Undersecretary of State for Education and Merit, Paola Frassinetti in connection, the president of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, the mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis, the admiral Chief Inspector Sergio Liardo, Commander General of the Army Corps Harbour Master's Office - Coast Guard, and the Admiral of Division Flavio Biaggi, interregional commander of Marittimo Nord.
