On 14 September, two weeks after its conclusion
of fiscal year 2026, the Port of Miami marked its
new historical record for cruise traffic having exceeded the
threshold of ten million passengers compared to a record traffic
of 8.56 million passengers reached in fiscal 2025.
The latest report on the economic weight generated by the activity
Port of Miami cruise line, referring to the calendar year 2023
when 1,132 cruise ships had departed from the port and the
total traffic had been 7.5 million passengers, indicates
that the cruise business supported the
45,309 jobs in Florida, including 21,689 direct jobs,
13,651 induced jobs and 9,969 indirect jobs. The impact
had produced a total personal income of 3.4
billion dollars, including 1.0 billion in direct remuneration,
€2.1 billion linked to the recirculation of expenditure on the territory and
344.5 million in indirect income. In terms of total value
of economic activity, the cruise sector had
generated $10.1 billion, of which nearly $8.0 billion was
direct revenues of companies supplying goods and services to the
shipping companies and passengers (including related industries
airport), and 2.1 billion linked to induced expenditure. In addition, the
companies directly involved had made 482.9 million
dollars of local purchases in Florida, thus supporting the
