South Korea will likely receive more gross tons of shipbuilding orders than Japan in 1997, taking back industry leadership for the first time in four years, the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan said.

Japanese yards in the first 10 months of this year booked orders for 10.28 million gross tons, against South Korea's 10.77 million.
