INDIA'S Kochi port boosted its box handling volumes during the 1997-98 year - although its net profits fell.

Container traffic throughput grew 8.5 per cent to 121,000 TEUs compared to 112,000 during 1996-97 while ICD traffic recorded a record increase from 11,080 TEUs to 12,524 TEUs.
