Charleston waits on funding confirmation for port project

THE Port of Charleston is reported to be waiting for funding confirmation from the American Congress before it can start a planned harbour deepening project.

The project, which has been authorised by Congress, is reported to involve dredging more than 33 million cubic yards of material from the port's channels in order to deepen and widen the harbour.
