Guangdong imports up despite downturn

OVER the first eight months of this year, imports in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong were up, albeit slightly.
Imports were up 3.4 per cent to US$34.96 billion over the same period last year, while exports recorded a rise of more than 8 per cent to end the period at $49.95 billion.
