Intermediaries change shipper's liability for freight

A CARRIER which issued a "freight prepaid" bill of lading in a shipment which involved three intermediaries has been unable to force the shipper to pay the freight.

This is because although a "freight prepaid" bill usually makes the shipper responsible for the freight, a different inference may be drawn if there are intermediaries ......
