The Greek shipping industry, normally associated with the bulker and tramp markets, has invested some US$1 billion (S$1.7 billion) in container ships over the last 12 months.

Investments by Greek companies have come both in the form of secondhand tonnage -- principally bought from cash strapped Asian operators -- and newbuildings. ......
