China-US maritime talks come to an abrupt halt

Negotiations between the United States and China attempting to break the impasse on maritime relations broke down after just two days with no progress made, officials in Beijing said.
Gao Haiyun, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Communications, said the talks, which were scheduled to last one week, were convened on Aug 24-25.
