WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. railroads set records in two key measures of freight traffic during 1997, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
Intermodal volume totaled 8,695,860 trailers and containers for the 52 weeks ended December 27, breaking the previous 52-week record (8,143,258 trailers and containers, set in 1996) by 6.8 percent.
