Japan's October trade surplus down
(The Nando Times)
November 23, 1999
TOKYO - The Japanese government said Wednesday that the country's October trade surplus with the United States fell for the first time in six months.
Easing fears of heightened trade friction, the politically sensitive surplus narrowed 14 percent to 618.4 billion yen ($5.92 billion) from the same month last year, the Finance Ministry said.
