(Sched Net)
February 11, 1999
SHIPPING lines have been criticised by exporters in Sri Lanka for increasing freight rates and terminal handling charges at a time when exports have crashed.
Exporters warn the increases will further hurt the country's competitiveness.
Freight rates have soared by US$1,000 per FEU while handling changes have risen by $15 per TEU since January 1.
