US trade imbalance leads to container surcharge

SEVERAL shipping lines have introduced container surcharges to counteract equipment imbalances resulting from surging trade to North America.
Ocean carriers in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres have tabled US$250-per-container surcharges to offset the cost of repositioning the empty boxes back to Europe or Asia.
