BEIJING: China's economy grew by 7.6% in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year, State Statistics Bureau (SSB) officials said Friday.

Total gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 3.62 trillion yuan (US$437bil), SSB spokesman Ye Zhen told a news conference.
