Plan: Ships To Treat Ballast Water

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ships would be required to replace or purify their ballast water before entering the Great Lakes under legislation being pushed by several lawmakers.
Supporters say the bill will keep out foreign species such as the sea lamprey, ruffe and zebra mussel that are wrecking havoc on marine ecology and industries.
