    Le groupe allemand Krone est désormais entièrement propriétaire du constructeur danois de semi-remorques frigorifiques Norfrig, qui a été rebaptisé Krone A/S. Le groupe américain Wabash, qui est le plus grand constructeur du monde, possédait une option pour l’acquisition de 50% des actions, mais ne l’a pas exercée à son échéance à fin octobre. Cette reprise devait constituer ses premiers pas sur le marché européen, mais il a apparemment décidé de pas s’attaquer au Vieux Continent. La coopération technique entre Krone et Wabash, par contre, se poursuivra.
  • Le SeaCell 45’ peut contenir un nombre encore plus élevé de palettes
    GE SeaCo, l’un des loueurs de containers maritimes les plus importants au monde, a présenté au dépôt ACE 2 du port d’Anvers un nouveau modèle de boîte qui permet de stocker un nombre encore plus élevé de palettes pour le transport des marchandises. Le nouveau container - le 45ft SeaCell high cube container - a une capacité de 33 euro-palettes de 1200 mm sur 800 mm. La production en série a déjà commencé: 10.000 unités seront encore construites cette année et - suivant les besoins du marché - 12.000 unités en 2002.

    “Nous sommes conscients qu’il y aura toujours un impact du containers sur nos trafics breakbulk, mais la spécialisation joue en notre faveur, comme c’est le cas pour les produits forestiers. Les chargeurs manifesteront toujours une préférence pour un type de navire comme celui que nous utilisons, à savoir des bulkers open hatch. Nous sommes même mieux protégés contre le container dans certains trades axés sur les produits forestiers. La situation en Amérique du Sud est totalement différente de celle en Amérique du Nord, les ports n’ayant pas les infrastructures nécessaires pour traiter tous les trafics.” Erik Falkenberg, président de l’armement Höegh Lines, qui exploite avec son partenaire Norsul deux services réguliers entre l’Amérique du Sud (côte est et côte ouest) et Anvers - axés sur les produits forestiers, le breakbulk et les projets -, nous a affirmé sa conviction dans le bien-fondé de l’exploitation d’une flotte de navires spécialisés de type “open hatch” équipés de deux portiques circulant sur les ponts.
