Traffic at 12 Major Ports may reach 344 mt in 2001-02

The 12 Major Ports in the country are likely to handle 344 million tonnes (mt) of cargo traffic during the current fiscal a government release said here.

Cargo traffic is expected to rise to 5.30 mt by 2006-07.

The current traffic is about 281 mt against the installed capacity which stands at 291 mt.
