Clyde strike threat lifts
(The Scotsman)
July 13, 2001

THE immediate threat of strike action at the Clyde shipyards was lifted yesterday as workers agreed to begin the task of negotiating with BAe managers over redundancies.
At mass meetings at both Govan and Scotstoun, angry calls for a walk-out failed to stir a 3,000-strong workforce still dazed from Tuesday's announcement of a one-third cut in numbers.
