Exporters and freight broking agents have called for developing hub ports in the country to speed up the movement of container traffic from India.
"At present, about 70 per cent of the containers flowing through India are transhipped through ports of Colombo, Singapore, Dubai and Salalah. This causes delay and also increases transaction cost. We need hub ports for containerised cargo," Vijay Kumar Chhajer, chairman of Calcutta Freight Brokers Association, said
