Major Ports to use Rs 7,500 cr Budget allocation for dredging, equipment acquisition

THE allocation of Rs 7,500 crore announced by the Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, in his Union Budget 2003-04 for the modernisation of Major Ports will be spent on dredging and acquisition of modern container and cargo handling equipment, with particular emphasis on Cochin and Jawaharlal Nehru Ports, it is learnt.
