LOW-COST carrier AirAsia could be set to build its first hub outside the country in Thailand following a decision last week by the Thai aviation department to approve the airline's application to establish a joint-venture, low-cost operation between Malaysia and Thailand.

Chief executive officer Tony Fernandez told Starbiz the airline was on the verge of a regional expansion and a major announcement "which will surprise many" could be made within a month ......
