DUBAI - International Development Ireland (IDI) has been awarded a contract to develop Egypt's new free zonethe Suez Economic Free Zonewhich is expected to compete with the region's major free zones by drawing some $700 billion in investments in 20 years.
Mustafa Sharawi, the Board Chairman of the General Authority of Northwestern Suez Gulf Economic Zone in Egypt, said the Irish company is expected to complete the development plans of the free zone by the end of September, following which, Egypt will invite international tenders for the $646 million first phase construction of the project
