PARADIP, July 15. - The Paradip Port Trust has drawn up plans for deepening its channel, turning circles at the inner harbour for handling 1,25, 000 DWT vessels and 1,85,000 vessels in phases.
The project envisages an expenditure of Rs 134.21 crores. Besides, the PPT has introduced improved systems for handling cargo operation.
The deputy manager (management service), Mr SC Mohapatra, said that the port has handled traffic of 25.31 million tonnes during 2003-04 surpassing the previous record of 23.90 million tonnes during 2002-03.
