French shipping firm CMA CGM is negotiating to invest in two mainland ports this year as part of an expansion of shipping links between China and North America that also includes the opening of 13 extra mainland offices.
But Jacques Saade, CMA CGM chairman, pledged that the firm's regional headquarters would remain in Hong Kong.
Saade, who is also visiting Shanghai, Ningbo and Qingdao, would not be drawn on the location of the planned port investments and denied that CMA CGM had signed a memorandum of understanding for the fourth phase of Ningbo container port
