Last Saturday, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) officially took over management of six U.S. port terminals in Portland that will be operated by the Philippine end-groups under a contract of concession for a period of 25 years ( of 13 May 2010).
The terminal, which is dedicated to container traffic and bulk commodities, is now managed by ICTSI Oregon, Inc., a subsidiary of the Philippines which took about 20 people to do business in the U.S. port.
Under the contract ICTSI made an initial payment of eight million dollars to take over the management of the terminal. Then the group will pay an annual fee of $ 4.5 million, a figure that will be subject to increase with the growth in traffic volumes handled.
