Yesterday, the Councillor for Traffic and Transportation in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Riccardo Riccardi, submitted to the Regional Council the contents of the proposal that the institution will address the Council of Ministers to implement the so-called "superporto" of Monfalcone, presented by the banking group UniCredit ( of 5 May 2011), and more generally intended to facilitate the planned private funding in the regional port system (€ 750 million) to "promote an international trade corridor between the point of Tarvisio and the ports of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which is identified - said Riccardi - the extension of the South Baltic-Adriatic Corridor.The proposal provides for the appointment of a special commissioner and the establishment of a series of port facilities (Monfalcone), behind the port and railway in the region.
The region - said the councilor - therefore ask that the text of a legislative decree, the Council of Ministers must approve the objects are entered works defined some urgent and necessary for the revival of the logistics system FVG: among them, next to the container terminal / rail terminal at the port of Monfalcone, the distripark of Gorizia, the doubling of junction San Polo / Monfalcone and trafficking Cervignano FS-Udine, improvement of the ring railway Udine.
It also provides for the appointment by the President of the Council, "feel" the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation and the President of Friuli Venezia Giulia, a special commissioner that could be secured and the timing of completion of works identified strategic. The proposal also provides for the transfer to the Region of all administrative, regulatory, control and promotion of the port of Monfalcone, without prejudice to the powers of the Maritime Authority of police and security functions.
