The ports of Barcelona and Shanghai, the Twin Cities since 2001, signed an agreement to collaborate and share information in strategic areas such as technology, the quality of the service, the development of cruise traffic and training. The agreement was signed this morning by the chairman of the Port of Barcelona, Sixt Cambra, and the President of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co. (SIPGear), Chen Xuyuan.
The agreement provides for the creation of a working group to promote collaborative activities between the two structures that will be tasked to carry out joint initiatives.
During the working meeting of the presidents of the ports of Shanghai and Barcelona have analyzed the situation of the port systems and new trends in markets, in particular the importance that the Mediterranean has acquired in managing the increasingly large flows of trade between the ' Far East and Europe.The Catalan port authority stated that the leaders of the Chinese port have also shown much interest in the development recorded by the port of Barcelona in the cruise industry and its leadership as the first port in Europe and fourth in the world with regard to the volume of passengers.
