Today in the port of Livorno the Livorno Reefer is inaugurated Terminal



(LRT), the new logistic pole of the port of call dedicated to the cooled and agricultural and food- producing handling of that is participated by the Harbour Group Company of Livorno (CPL), from the Reunited Agricultural and food- Shippers, from the Group Baccini Ortofrutta and the real estate society Land Saffi.

The terminal occupies an area of 36.000 square metres with a cooled covered surface of 12.000 square metres. The dock has a development of 360 linear meters and the estimated maximum operating ability to the terminal is of 400.000 annual tons of goods, with an initial forecast of 100.000 tons.

In the course of the ceremony the president of the Region Tuscany, Enrico Rossi, has emphasized that the inaugurated work "is the first step in the direction of throws again". The Tuscan governor has turned an appeal to the institutional and social forces and therefore to all the city so that engagements choral in order to win the challenge of the competitiveness of the port: "he touches you - Rossi has said - to win this challenge on the domestic markets and international. It is a topic on which we are already working (we are the only Region that invests so many resources for a port), but that it demands of being strengthened with a pact between the social forces and the first of all local institutions. Rossi has restated the attention turned from the agency that presides in confronts of the port: "the Region - it has specified - has destined financings and attention towards the port of Livorno because it considers it fundamental for the future of the entire region. With the port of Livorno we can try to construct a infrastructural system that makes of the Tuscany a central region in the displacements of the people and the goods. In this picture the railway connections are important (are working with FS in order to realize fast connections with the Italy north and the east north of Europe) and are fundamental to complete the Tirrenica. Since it was brought back to us is in fact the lack of relationship between the port of Livorno and the Latium, and in particular with the metropolitan area of Rome. Little goods that comes from Livorno has for destination that area. The realization of the Tirrenica could favor very this connection north-south: the completion of this European corridor would contribute without a doubt to giving centrality to the port of Livorno.
